Happy New Year 2010 Da Ecchi Stars

Another year has passed and we are entering a brand new decade. We have come so far, and I know that there are still many years ahead of us that we will still be connected somehow, someway... under the same rainbow sky - the rainbow connection. Happy New Year Ecchis!~

The Rainbow Connection

Why are there so many songs about rainbows
And what's on the other side?
Rainbows are visions but only illusions
And rainbows have nothing to hide

So we've been told and some choose to believe it
I know they're wrong, wait and see
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection
The lovers, the dreamers and me

Who said that every wish would be heard and answered
When wished on the morning star?
Somebody thought of that and someone believed it
Look what it's done so far

What's so amazing that keeps us stargazing
And what do we think we might see?
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection
The lovers, the dreamers and me

All of us under its spell
We know that it's probably magic

Have you been half asleep and have you heard voices?
I've heard them calling my name
Is this the sweet sound that calls the young sailors
The voice might be one and the same

I've heard it too many times to ignore it
It's something that I'm supposed to be

Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection
The lovers, the dreamers and me

Changing Partners

I knew that my younger sister and her boyfriend, who was in States, had broken up, but I thought maybe they’d get back together.

The signs. She started to have more phone calls from guys. She hardly talked to him on the phone. She wrote him emails, from a daily routine to once a week affair.

One night, Lizzie brought him home, her new boyfriend. She said that when she first met him, she didn’t even like him at all. I thought, Yeah, but I was horny for him.

Alone together at last, I said, “I thought you really loved him.”
“I did,” she said. “Craig’s great.”
“I liked him,” I said.

She nodded. Then she said, “There were too many of differences in value between us.”

It sounded to me like “better course selection”, and I gave her a look to say so, but she pretended not to see and went to join her new boyfriend.

That night, I couldn’t fall asleep. I looked out of the window, only one house had any lights on, and the light was just the blue of a television set.

I tried to understand how Lizzie could give up on someone who loved her so much, whereas I was the one who was given up by the other someone. The whole situation was ironic. She could have gotten what she wants, but she threw it away. I wanted so much to be loved wholeheartedly by my ex-boyfriend, but I wasn’t given that chance. It scares me to think that my sister had failed at loving someone. I had no idea what I should expect from a guy, if I ever fall in love again someday.

*The guy I loved for years, who was my first true love, ended up bailed on me after being together for 3 months. 2 years later we were back together. The irony part is, this time I was the one who took the run... & till today, it's the biggest regrets in my life that I didn't end it in a better way.

Studio Ghibli-animated DS Game - Ni no Kuni

Trailer for Ni no Kuni, the Studio Ghibli-animated DS game from Level-5. The revered studio’s contributions are the main attraction, so that makes up the bulk of this TGS video, but the brief gameplay clips are also exquisite!

Outside of the animation, the game is a traditional JRPG with Dragon Quest-style turn-based combat, except you can project soldiers (nicknamed “Imagine”) from your soul aid you in battles. Seems like they’re just re-interpreted summons, but it’s still kind of a neat idea.

Eden of the East

How's everyone in the family & fellow auditioners? It's been a while so I don't expect many to actually read this. I haven't completely solved all of my real-life issues and my niece has been keeping me busy and some other issues. I don't think I'll be able to go back to blogging week by week like I used to though. I know it's pathetic but I guess I just don't have the same enthusiasm for it due to everything else that's going on in my life.

Anyway, there are 2 persons I wanna wish them happy birthday to. Arlie, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!! Not forgetting my mahal ko, Happy Birthday Mahal!~

I especially like this one because the design is clean and simple and the character design reminds me of Honey and Clover. Akira looks like a Morita clone while Saki is like a younger, less miserable version of Yamada. The background is stunning and I'm impressed with the way Production I.G handled it. I had finished watching this some time back on YouTube. Watch it, and you won't be disappointed in this anime. From what I understand, there will be a movie version of this anime to close up the chapter.

Story - Based on Ep.1

A Japanese girl called Saki visits DC for the first time and want to make a wish by throwing a coin into a fountain located within the White House. One would think that since the US government is nervous about terrorism, a foreigner like Saki would be aware that this is not a good idea. I'm sure that she's been subjected to finger printing and all of the fun immigration things when she first entered that country. But then again, Japan is also all for finger printing and photo taking so maybe being treated like a criminal at the immigration feels natural for her. Anyway, she's quickly scolded by two burly guards who actually speak proper English words. Kudos to the producers for casting people who can actually speak English to play the Americans. Before she can get apprehended, however, pervert Morita-lookalike crosses the street stark nekkid and holding a gun.

In this POV, a man is seen talking to a voice on the phone about how he's disappointed with number 9. Judging from the convo, it seems Morita-lookalike has been programmed to achieve a task but for some reason went berserk and ended up stark naked on the street while holding a gun. After the man left in his car, Morita-lookalike gets a phone call from his expensive-looking mobile. Upon hearing a tone, he gets deactivated from whatever trance he was on. He realizes that he's stark naked and holding a gun. See, most people will throw the gun in haste and go and find a place to hide. But not this guy. He crosses the street waving the gun stark naked. I suppose he can at least he can plea for insanity if he had gotten caught.

The two guards see him, thinks he's dangerous, but then a truck passed by. The guards think fake Morita latched onto the truck so they go after it. As it turns out, he was hiding behind the street pavement. Obviously Saki is nervous when she sees a naked man coming to her with a gun in his hand. However, she decides to be nice to him and teach him some modesty by giving the guy her hat, muffler, and jacket. The two then part and fake Morita calls his mobile and gets the same voice. He wants to know if the voice knows his identity since he can't remember it at all. The voice claims that since his memory has been erased and his next assignment is not available yet, she can't tell who he should be. Awkward. Because of this, fake Morita has no choice but to go back to the home that is pointed on the map in his mobile. Meanwhile, Saki realizes that her passport was inside the jacket she gave to fake Morita.

She spots the guy somehow persuading a businessman to give up his trousers. The biggest mystery is when he enters the apartment and all of a sudden his neighbor can understand what fake Morita is talking about even though he's speaking in Japanese.

Fake Morita enters his room and finds out that he has a lot of firearms and bomb-making materials. Yeah, he's a certified terrorist, all right. He also has a lot of fake passport. I'm disappointed that one of the fake names is not Shinobu Morita. Another item of interest is a picture of him posing against the background of many nekkid guys. Maybe they were about to have annual meeting for Japan Bukkake club? Anyway, Saki knocks on the door, asking if he can return her jacket since it has her passport in it. Fake Morita checks the passport and finds out that her name is Morimi Saki. Elsewhere, the "We want to marry anime characters" group rejoice when they find out that Saki is 20 years old while pedobears everywhere sulk and yell "too old!". Fake Morita feels that he's the same age as Saki so he flips through fake passport to find one that has similar year of birth. And with that he becomes Takizawa Akira.

Meanwhile, a policewoman comes to the apartment to inspect the suspicious couple. Akira, however, throws her off by showing off his massive package, proving that unlike the guy in the pic, he's comparatively well-endowed. Pics or it didn't happen, animators! And oh, this policewoman is definitely an anime fangirl. She can even understand Akira even though this time around his speech is more complicated than the one he used on his neighbor. Anyway, the two then run away from the apartment since Akira has set it on fire. The two go to the airport and they talk about how Japan is no longer self-sufficient anymore. This is why Saki wanted to make a wish, hoping it'll bring some changes. The two then joke around until they witness a news about how there's a missile attack on Japan. It feels weird to see a serious political drama with Honey and Clover characters in it.

First look: What a weird 'Wonderland' Burton's made

You might have gone down the rabbit hole before. But never with a guide quite as attuned to the fantastic as Tim Burton.
Those who have grown curiouser and curiouser about what the offbeat reinventor of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory might conjure up in his version of Alice in Wonderland can feast their eyes on this array of concept art and publicity images, due to hang in movie theaters this week to promote the March 5, 2010, release.
"It has been Burton-ized" is how producer Richard Zanuck describes the director's vision of the Lewis Carroll classic. Many elements are familiar, from the enigmatic Caterpillar (Alan Rickman) to the fierce Jabberwock (Christopher Lee). But none has been presented in this sort of visually surreal fashion.
"We finished shooting in December after only 40 days," Zanuck says. Now the live action is being merged with CG animation and motion-capture creatures, and then transferred into 3-D.
The traditional tale has been freshened with a blast of girl power, courtesy of writer Linda Woolverton (Beauty and the Beast). Alice, 17, attends a party at a Victorian estate only to find she is about to be proposed to in front of hundreds of snooty society types. Off she runs, following a white rabbit into a hole and ending up in Wonderland, a place she visited 10 years before yet doesn't remember.
Among those who welcome her back is the Mad Hatter, a part tailor-made for Johnny Depp as he collaborates with Burton for the seventh time. "This character is off his rocker," Zanuck says.
Aussie actress Mia Wasikowska, 19, best known for HBO's In Treatment, has the coveted title role. "There is something real, honest and sincere about her," Zanuck says. "She's not a typical Hollywood starlet."
There is the usual Burton-esque ghoulishness (Helena Bonham Carter's Red Queen, whose favorite retort is "Off with their heads," has a moat filled with bobbing noggins), but Zanuck assures most kids can handle it. "The book itself is pretty dark," he notes. "This is for little people and people who read it when they were little 50 years ago."

Departures, Best Foreign Firm of the Year. Must Watch!

Yojiro Takita's Departures (Japanese title is Okuribito) won the Oscar for Best Foreign Film this year, and if you watch the movie you'll instantly know why. It is a stunningly raw exploration of death—I went to a screening of it this afternoon, and was blown away by it. It's about a cello player who loses his job, moves back to his hometown, and gets a highly unusual new gig as a corpse dresser-upper.

This movie will make you think about death. It's something many of us are uncomfortable talking about. I volunteer at an AIDS hospice once a week, and the experiences I have there are constantly reshaping my perspective on it, and the way I cope. I think Takita is brave to address death so directly in a movie and also to bring dignity back to the controversial Japanese funeral system.

Masahiro Motoki (aka Mokkun), the now-45 year old former boy band star, does an amazing job in the lead, and Ryoko Hirosue is charming in her role as his wife.

1 Hit Wonder?

Are these girl groups set to rock and stay in the music industry or are they just a 1-hit wonder? Time will tell...

Wonder Girls

The Wonder Girls debuted on February 14, 2007 on MBC's "Show! Music Core", singing "Irony", the hip-hop single from their debut mini-album, The Wonder Begins. The mini-album sold 11,454 copies in 2007.

Each of the five original members were selected through auditions. Debuting in early 2007, they became popular in the fall of that year with the song "Tell Me."

Since then they have scored 3 consecutive #1 hit singles with "Tell Me", "So Hot", and "Nobody", and in 2008, won two Daesangs ("Artist of the Year" Awards). They are oftened compare to the girl group FIN.K.L.

Kara

They debuted as a 4-member girl group on March 29, 2007 with "Break It" on M! Countdown. Their first album was called The First Blooming, and they debuted with the mature, independent, "strong-female" image and they focused on singing and music, instead of appearing on variety shows. 1 of the girls left the group suddenly due to parental pressure, as her participation in the group was contingent on the maintenance of her grades.

KARA's comeback as a 5-member group was on July 24, 2008 with "Rock U" on MCountdown. They made their comeback with the "cute" concept.

20th Century Boys (20世紀少年)

PLOT: A screening of the live-action version of Naoki Urasawa’s manga series, set to be the first in an epic fantasy trilogy. Inspired by the T.Rex song of almost the same name, the film follows a young man as he attempts to unravel the secret of the sinister conspiracy known as ‘Friend’. The globe-hopping plot builds up to a spectacular showdown on the eve of the new millennium - man versus machine against the backdrop of bustling Shinjuku.

Part I & II were already released. I am waiting for the last part of the trilogy. A movie not to be missed if you're a fantasy, mystery and sci-fi fan.

Teen Had Sex With Girl, 10

WHEN they met on the internet in December two years ago, he was almost 17 and she had just turned 10.

After three months of calls, SMSes, one date and a Valentine's poem that made her 'feel love', they became an item.

Eight months later in November 2007, their relationship turned sexual. The young lovers engaged in sex on three other occasions before they were found out last January.

The girl's mother had noticed a change in her daughter's behaviour, and reported to the police.

On Thursay, the teen Xia Yun, now 19, pleaded guilty to two counts of carnal connection.

Two similar charges were taken into consideration.

The court heard that the girl had met Xia on a multi-player online gaming site AuditionSea sometime in December 2006.

They exchanged handphone numbers and kept in constant contact via SMSes and calls. Then on Valentine's Day in 2007, they met for the first time.

As Xia, is still under 21, Judge Soh Tze Bian called for a pre-sentence report to find if he was eligible for probation. This will be decided next month.

If Xia is not granted probation, he faces jail of up to five years and a fine of up to $10,000 on each charge.

* Althoug this incident happneed in Singapore, that doesn't mean it won't happen in Philippines. This acts as a warning to everyone of you to be careful with who you befriend with, especially in virtual reality.

Ponyo on the Cliff By the Sea By Hayao Miyazaki

The latest film from the veteran Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki was a major phenomenon in Japan. The long-awaited follow-up to Spirited Away and Howl’s Moving Castle has already taken over 10 billion yen at the box office, which translates to over 8.43 million tickets sold in just over a month on release, promising a final figure which seems likely to break records by the end of its run. At the age of 68-year-old, Miyazaki still knows how to capture the hearts of the audience.

Ponyo On The Cliff By The Sea is loosely inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s " A Little Mermaid " , transposing the story to a gorgeously realised contemporary Japan and replacing the mermaid with a bolshy little goldfish who decides that she wants to be human after she is rescued by a five-year-old boy called Sosuke.

I am a big fan of Miyazaki and had watched all of his work. Though this is not my favourite as compared to his others work, nonetheless, it is still a pleasure to watch this animation.

Biography of Hayao Miyazaki

Below is a music video "On Your Mark" he did for Japan's pop duo Chage & Asko in 1995. The first time I saw this music video was at Chage & Aska's concert in Singapore. The played this during the interval. I wonder why Miyazaki didn't make it into a movie for the storyline seems good.

After watching the video, I sat here feeling both amazed and shocked by the statistics. Kinda scary at the same time. The song is awesome too and is perfect for this video, Fatboy Slim "Right here, Right now".

Tune up the volume of your speaker before you start watching this video. It describes the macro look at the future. You won't regret spending 5 minutes of your time watching this.

My Walkman Was Murdered!

Today I was in a very bad mood, extremely bad mood.

That super irritating, pain in the neck brother of mine spoiled my Walkman. My dad gave the Walkman to me because I got ninety percent for my Mathematics exam.

He could actually put the greatest invention of the decade into the water, saying that he wanted to test if the person who speaks in the Walkman could hold his breath for how many minutes. Oh my god! In this world, could there be any other more terrifying creature than a “brother”?

Ruining my Walkman was like ruining every hope of my life. Because of this, for a long time I wasn’t able to exchange the latest album with my classmates. I thought, Not very long I’d lose my reputation as DJ Pink. Perhaps I wouldn’t even have the chance to become a singer one day.

I reported this disaster to my mom, hoping that justice would be done, or at least gave my brother a piece of mind. Instead, she said the same old thing to me again, “Who asks you not to keep your things properly? Your brother is still young. You have to give in to him and guide him properly.”

I decided that next time I would teach him how to bang his head at the wall.

After that, mom gave brother what she felt was the worst punishment, glaring at him for twenty seconds and said, “You’re like a barbarian! If you do it again, I’m going to give you a good spanking.” The funny thing was, there would always be a next time.

The adults always say, “Being the elder sister should not bully your younger brother.” But why is it that younger brother can always bully the elder sister? Every time when dad and mom gave me a spanking, they would say it was for my own good. But why was it that when I hit my brother it wasn’t for his own good? I took his Transformer and had to return to him immediately; if my brother took my Barbie doll, mom would force me to let him played for a while.

If I was being a big bully, then wasn’t mom being a big bully as well?

This let me come to a conclusion: All adults are the same, like to be the judges for others, but never like to be their own judge and stick to the rules.

Forget it, there are parents everywhere. When will it be my turn to become a parent?

*This happened when I was still studying in Primary school.

Memoirs of WinterFairy

Memoirs of WinterFairy bring the readers into the past, present and future of my memories. Every story tells a funny, moving and sparkling portrait of myself. The characters in my stories are true and honest.

My notorious childhood, one that drives any mother crazy. My disinterest in education, struggles with friendships and a home I used to dread to going back.

From my father's infidelity, I become an unblinking observer. Watching the love affair evolved, I struggled to understand what goes on between lovers, and how relationships work - and fail to work. Then, as I step into adulthood, I have my own push-and-pull relationships, and the lessons in love are just as bewildering: how younger guys seem to be attracted to me, and my failure in having a long term relationship. I, a woman maneuvering her way through love, sex and relationships, and learning when to fish … and when to cut the baits. I've finally learned that in love there is neither pattern nor promise and there are never rules.

Based on true stories, parts of the stories are fiction in order to intrigue my readers. The names have been changed to protect my friends, love ones and family. The readers will get to discover the inner world of my thoughts and memories.

So, do look out for my series of short stories which I will be posting it up soon.

Sunburn & Lombok

Date : January 8 - 12
Venue : Imaj Villas (Lombok, Indonesia)

I'm back!!! I miss all of you so much while in Lombok. Below is a brief recap on my trip.

My 2nd visit to Imaj since last year March 2008 with my family and friends. I was at their 3-bedroom villa again since the package was purchased a year ago and expiring in February this year. I bought it for US$600 for 5 days 4 nights last year. Recently, Imaj had this promotion and their 3-bedroom villas was selling at US$40 per night only!!! @#$@#$@#@#$@@$#@#

Anywa, since I'm just back from my retreat, I'll briefly summarize on what I did. The photos below are the villa I was staying (forgotten to take a photo of the bedroom I was sleeping in). And not forgettig me sunbathing... and came back with sunburn. OUCH!!!

1 of my dinner, I invited the chef to cook at my villa. While they were busy preparing my dinner, I went to peep on how they prepared the food and penned it on my notebook. I will use it for one of my cooking class ho ho ho...

I took some photos of the place as well. Not a thorough photo tour, but at least better than nothing?
Due to me and my sunburn, I couldn't have a body scrub at the spa. I ended up with a full body massage, strawberry mask and milk (body), anti-agiing facial and pedicure. I took their Christmas & New Year special package which included 3 course dinner and a bottle of red wine. All these for only Rp960, 000!!! SO CHEAP!!!

On my last night in Lombok, I went to this seafood restaurant recommended by the staff at Imaj. They said the seafood there is not only fresh, but cheap as well. Verdict: GREAT GOOD, NICE AMBIENT AND SUPER CHEAP!!! 1 Lobster, 4 King Prawn, 6 sticks of Calamari, 1 whole Red Snapper, a plate of vegetables and rice and beer : Rp291, 000.

Some of the food I had while in Lombok, too layz to take picture for all my meals there =p

Not forgetting my cute pinkystreet doll. I was so lazy that only took a few photos for Yoshiko.

I was kind of unlucky. My 3rd night there I got sting by a bee on my nose, 4th night by an unknown insect on my right foot and ended up still swollen till now.

I didn't buy anything when in Lombok since the place isn't a shopping paradise. It is more for relaxation, spa, watersport, scuba diving and cheap and good seafood. I ended up spending quite a fair amount on tipping the staff at Imaj.

This will be a busy week for me for I'll be away again next week for cruise from Monday - Thursday. And after that will be Chinese New Year. Gosh! So many things to be done by this week!!!

Love Is - English Translation

To me, love is
Giving and receiving everything,
Having the same thoughts
As you fall deeper, you turn into a fool
You can’t help but look to one place
You become more childish
When my hand is holding yours,
It feels as if I’ve got everything in the world. Yes~
I want nothing else

(Chrous)
I’m going to touch you
I’m going to treasure you
I’m going to be behind you,
By your side, protecting you forever
You need love
I want to see you in the mornings

yea yea yea oh~ Look into my eyes
Look at me~ My babe
We say that we will spend the rest of our lives together
Press your lips against mine
Please say I do
This is the beginning,
With the trembling voice I can not believe
When my hand is holding yours,
It feels as if I’ve got everything in the world Yes~
I want nothing else
–(Chorus)–
Everyday, every night,
I’m going to spend it with you
Everywhere, every time,
I will take you to the places you want to go
If you want
I will make a pledge of my love Baby~
–(Chorus)–
Yes. How do you feel, baby?

Stepping Into Year 2009

Most people would set New Year resolutions for themselves, so do I. The problem is, how many of us can actually keep to our resolutions?

It's odd how most of us see the new year as a time to start over. And while many feel compelled to review what we've done with our time on earth over the last year, few will actually commit to making any real changes, and of those who do, even fewer will actually succeed.

I believe most people make resolutions with the very best of intentions. Either way, the heavy hand of everyday life has such a grip on us that it becomes virtually impossible to break out of that rut and truly start life anew.

My first draft of this posting, I wanted to set resolutions for our family. Half way through, I decided not to and deleted everything. If you haven't noticed, I have quit from being the family master. I am saddened by a few things I notice that has been going on in the family. I cannot help but feel disappointed in some of the family members. I especially feel sad that both myself and the family are being taken advantage of, or rather, take for granted...

The irony part is, I am not even sure how many of the family members actually make an effort to keep up closely to the posting here. In a family, cohesion would be defined as the feeling of being loved, of belonging to the group and being nurtured by it. Although closeness is good in a family unit, there must be a balance between being together and being separate. A few things that bring a family together are the commitment of other family members, and the spending of time together.

Ever hear the saying, “What we have here is a failure to communicate?” A lack of communication can rip a family apart and destroy them. Things that facilitate communication are the things mentioned so far -- family closeness, flexibility, time spent together, spirituality. All members must feel a freedom within the group to express themselves freely.

Do we have these qualities in our family? Are we bonded together or are we behaving as an individual? Do we communicate enough? Do we think and act what is best for our family?

If any of you do read this, ponder on what are said here. If you do not agree with any of these, we will move on without you.

A new year marks a new start for everyone of us and a new Da Ecchi Stars. Have a safe, happy and prosperous new year!
